Bridgon (Britt) Blakley, age 82, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, October 22, 2018 in Nashville, Tennessee, where he resided with daughter, Angelia Blakley.
Britt was born on December 3, 1935 in Abbeville, MS. At a very young age, the family moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan, where he spent the majority of his young life. As an adult, he later moved to Kokomo, Indiana. Britt received Christ in his early 50's in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Preceding him in death is father, Eugene Blakley, mother, Malissie Blakley, brothers, Calvin Malone, Joe Willie Blakley, Joe Edward Blakley, sister, Ann Copin, daughters Diane (Dottie) Blakley and Jarlette (Joy) Blakley, niece, Elizabeth Blakley, and grandsons, Jermaine (Jay) Blakley and Ronnell Goree.
Britt is survived by his two brothers, Samuel Blakley and Lee Blakley, son, Britton Blakley, and daughters, Debra Lowe Blakley, Cheryl Goree, Valerie Bryant Blakley, Christy Ambrose, Tina Jones, Stacy Henderson Blakley, Angelia Blakley, Annjannette Blakley and many loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family.
Britt enjoyed boxing, bowling, and motor cycles. He was a welder by trade and worked for Moons Welding and Continental Steel in Kokomo, Indiana. Upon closure of the Steel plant, he became an independent welding contractor.
Anyone who knew Britt, knew how stubborn he was and that lasted until his last breath. He fought for his life for many years, battling pancreatic cancer, multiple strokes and several years of Alzheimer's. He was determined to go out on his own terms and he did just that. He refused to allow his daughters to witness him go, so he waited until a short separation to let go. His last days were spent listening to old school music and the Word of God being read to him by his daughters. 82 years is far from enough time on this earth, but he lived life to the fullest.
