Evelyn Mae Johnson

Evelyn Johnson, 74, passed away September 6, 2019. A native of Kokomo, Indiana, she was the daughter of George E. Hodge and Thelma J. (Lynch) Hodge Bassett.

She was a member of Christ Temple Church, and former member of Wayman Chapel AME Church where she served as Stewardess, Usher, Choir, and YPD.  After 30 years of service, she retired from Delco Electronics. Of her many loves in life she enjoyed most shopping, traveling across the country with her husband in their RV, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She leaves to cherish her memory a son, Christopher E. Johnson, of Indianapolis, Indiana; a daughter, Carla R. Woodard (Jackie), of Kokomo; four grandchildren, Breonna, Darius, Aundre, Aaliyah; and five great-grandchildren, Arionna, Jaiden, Layla, Breon, Santana; and a host of many other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Elijah Johnson, and her daughter Michelle; and brother Charles Hodge.  

Memorial Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 14, 2019 at Wayman Chapel A.M.E. Church, 920 N. Apperson Way, Kokomo, Indiana 46901.  Floral tributes and food may be delivered to the church beginning one hour prior to the time of service.
