Georgia Zeigler, 74 of Kokomo was called to glory on April 14, 2020 at Community Howard Hospital.   

Georgia E. Zeigler was born on April 7, 1946, to John P. and Mary Francis Merriweather in Clarksville, Tennessee.
Georgia graduated from Kokomo High School in 1964, then continued her education at Indiana University of Kokomo. In 2007, after 37 years of service, Georgia retired from Delphi Electronics/General Motors as a benefits representative after spending several years as a journeywoman carpenter. She was elected as a delegate to the UAW National Convention two times and served at the UAW Local 292.


Georgia had been involved in politics since 1995, when she was elected as a delegate to the Indiana State Convention. In 2007, she was elected as a member of the Center Township Trustee board. She held the office of vice president for the UAW C.A.P. Council. She was an active member of Wayman Chapel AME Church, most recently serving on the Trustee Board.
Georgia had been an active and committed volunteer in the community for many years with the goal of helping our community be a healthy and safe place to live.


Georgia Zeigler departed this life on Tuesday, April 14, 2020, at the age of 74 years and 7 days. She was preceded in death by her parents.  She will be loved and remembered by her son, Karl Zeigler (Kimberley), of Suwanee, Georgia; sister, Margaret Bell, of Kokomo, Indiana; and brother, Lawrence Merriweather, of Kokomo, Indiana.


Services will be held on Friday, April 24, 2020, at Wayman Chapel AME Church. Pastor William Gary will officiate. Visitation will be on Friday, April 24, 2020, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Wayman Chapel AME Church. Watch services via Facebook Live Stream on Bluitt and Son Funeral Home.
