James Austin Patterson

Mr. James Austin "Clean" Patterson, 72, Kokomo resident, transitioned at 7:41 a.m. Dec. 1, 2021, at Ascension St. Vincent, Kokomo. Mr. Patterson was born Sept. 24, 1949, in Kokomo, the son of James W. and Emma C. Patterson, who both preceded him in death. James was a lover of various sports and that passion showed up in his coaching abilities through Eastside baseball. He was also a major league coach for John's Green Lawn Care and later Pepsi. He was former president and vice president of Eastside Little League. He was a 1968 KHS graduate, where he was a member of the wrestling team. James was also employed for 32 years at Delco Electronics division of GM. He leaves to cherish his memories wife, M. Janeen Patterson, Kokomo; one son, Marcus D. Patterson (Shelly), Kokomo; one brother, Danny H. Patterson, Kokomo; along with one sister, Regina Ellis, of Dayton, Ohio; and four grandchildren. Celebratory services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11, at Wayman Chapel AME Church with visitation at 11 a.m. until time of service. Pastor William Gary is officiating and son, Marcus D. Patterson, will serve as eulogist. Final interment will be in Crown Point Cemetery. Attendees must wear masks.
