Joe W. Washington, 83, passed away Saturday, May 18, 2019. Joe Willie was born to Marcus Washington and Louise (Wright) Brown on May 4, 1936 in Cedar Hill, Tennessee. He retired from Continental Steel in 1987 after serving 23 years. He also worked at St. Joseph Hospital and the Elks Lodges, where he also served as a member.He leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved and devoted wife of 62 years and 5 months, Lenora (Hogan) Washington, six daughters, Terri Lynn Washington, Charlene Artis, Darlene Wake, Jodi Crawford-Johnson (Joe), Lori Lynn and Loni Washington. Grandchildren, Reggie Crawford Jr., Grag Wake Jr., Eboni Hawkins (DeShawn), Terrence Artis, Lyndsi Crawford and Markell Freeman. Great-grandchildren, Terrell Washington, Brya Winslow, Brooklyn and Ralyn Hawkins and Xavier Maldonaldo.He also leaves behind his only brother, Dr. Thomas (Katina) Washington of San Antonio, Texas. Cousin McFarren (Monaei) Wright of Kokomo and Step-sister, Nellie Catrea Caldwell of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.Joe enjoyed many hours of watching old Westerns/Cowboys, family bbq's where he taught his skills to his grandsons and daughters. He also enjoyed evenings on the porch talking about everything and anything, giving advice even if you didn't want it and tinkering in his garage.Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Greater Mt. Olive Church, with calling from 9 a.m. until service time. Burial will be in Crown Point Cemetery.Arrangements were entrusted to Bluitt and Son Funeral Home. www.bluittandson.com.
