John Nathaniel Childress, 80 of Indianapolis, received his wings on August 8, 2019. Born February 28, 1939 in Huntsville, Alabama he was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of St. Timothy Tabernacle Church of God In Christ. He was a former mechanic and crane worker. and retired from Endsley Mfg. Mr. Childress was an avid fisherman, and enjoyed hunting, working on cars, and playing the organ. Those left behind to cherish his memory are his loving wife LaVonne W. Childress; sons Christopher N. Childress, and Shannon N. Calhoun; daughters Terri L. Smith and Ericka L. Childress; brother Frank Childress of Huntsville, Alabama; sisters Helen Belton and Gwendolyn Ann Jones; seven grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren; and a host of other loving relatives and friends. Services will be Saturday, August 17, 2019 at 12:00 noon with calling beginning at 10:00 am until time of services at St. Timothy Tabernacle Church of God in Christ, 2407 Columbia Avenue, Indianapolis, Indiana 46205. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery. Floral tributes may be delivered to the church beginning one hour prior to time of calling
