Mr. John R. Terry, 87, Kokomo, transitioned at 3:46 p.m. June 22, 2021, at his home with loving family members at his side. John was born May 20, 1934, in Cedar Hill, Tennessee, the son of Izella and William Henry Terry Sr. Both parents preceded him in death. He retired from the Chrysler Corp. in 1997, after more than 30 years of service. He was a member of Second Missionary Baptist Church, Kokomo Branch of the NAACP, American Legion Post #177 and UAW Local 685. He enjoyed performing the landscaping duties of his yard and spending time with his beloved family. He was joined in holy matrimony to his beloved wife, Dennis W. Beard, for 55 years. She survives. Also surviving with the wife, are two daughters, Donna L. Terry, of Kokomo, and Mary I. Foy (Donald), of Dayton, Ohio; two sisters; Mary Eddings and Blanche Benton, both of Miami, Florida; two grandchildren, Makaila and Mariah Foy; along with a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives, friends and other extended family. He was also preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters. He will be greatly missed by all. A celebration of life will be held at noon Monday, June 28, in the Second Missionary Baptist Church with the church's Pastor, the Rev. Dr. William J. Smith Jr. officiating and eulogizing.
