Katherine Hayes

Mother Katherine Hayes, 88 years young, of Greenwood and Indianapolis, Indiana received her Wings to Glory July 18, 2019.  Born in Autaugaville, Alabama, she professed a hope in Christ at an early age.  She was a member of the Mt. Carmel Church where she sang in the Gospel Chorus Choir, a member and past president of the Missionary Society, and dedicated church member.  She loved fishing, bowling, traveling, and making ceramics. She was loved by all that knew her.  She was a loving wife, (her husband Samuel Hayes, Sr. preceded her in death), mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend to many.   Those left to cherish her memory include sons: James H. Stoudemire, Samuel Hayes, Jr. (Vera), Lawrence Hayes, (Debra); daughters: Deloise Adair, Bettie Hayes, Joyce Bacon (David), Karen Corbin (James); brother: Lenard Nixon; sisters: Beatrice Stoudemire, Cordelia Whittaker, Carrie Mae Douglas (Lorenzo); a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends. Homegoing services will be held Friday, July 26, 2019 at 11:00 am with calling from 9:00 am until time of services at Mt. Carmel Church, 9610 E. 42nd Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46235. Senior Pastor, Dr. Theron D. Williams, will be the Officiant and Eulogist. Burial will be in New Crown Cemetery.  Floral tributes may be delivered to the church beginning one hour prior to time of calling.
