Mr. Nathaniel (Bill) Crete Baker, Sr., 68, of Kokomo, Indiana passed away on November 13, 2019. Mr. Baker was a native of Cadiz , Kentucky. He was born December 10, 1950 to the late Norris and Alma Crump Baker. After serving In the United States Air Force at Grissom’s Air Force Base in Peru Indiana and meeting the love of his life, Miss ‘Candy’ Thomas, he decided to make Kokomo his home. He became a member of Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church. He retired from Logan Stampings after 25 years of service and was formerly employed by Delco Electronics, Chrysler, Corp., and Carrier Corp. He was also a teacher at Ivy Tech and was a graduate of Purdue University where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Information Technology (1986). He also was a graduate of Indiana University where he received an Associate of Arts Degree in General Studies (1982). Mr. Baker was a veteran of the United States Air Force where he served as a Medical Specialist, and was a former 5th District Commander of the American Legion Post #177.
He leaves a beloved family to cherish his memory including, his loving wife, Candace Y. Baker; son, Nathaniel Crete Baker, Jr. (Tiffany); daughters, Shelly Y. Baker-Ladd (Tim), Sheneda A. Baker-Anderson (Alonzo), and Constance Prater; brothers, Norris Baker , Al Baker (Nikki), G. Edwin Baker, and Hoeston Baker; sisters, Vivian Baker (Marvin), Sheneda Little (Jimmy), Betty Baker-Clayton (Don), Almaria Baker, Tanisha Baker-Kabithe (David), and Celeste Baker; George Bell (uncle), eight grandchildren, and one great-grandchild, and a host of other loving relatives and friends.in addition to his parents, Nathaniel Baker was preceded in death by Monroe and Artelia Thomas (in laws), Audrey Kaye Baker(sister), Monroe Thomas Jr. (brother in law), Alonzo Kevin Anderson (grandson), Leslie Paige Baker(niece) and Micah Walker(nephew).
Services for Mr. Baker will be Saturday, November 23, 2019 at 1:00 pm with calling from 11:00 am until time of services at Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church, 1599 E. Sycamore Street, Kokomo, Indiana 46901. Pastor Lonnie Anderson will be the Officiant and Eulogist. Burial will be in Marion National Cemetery, Marion Indiana. Floral tributes may be delivered to the church beginning one hour prior to time of calling. Before the day of the service, friends may call 317-296-4791 for specific instructions concerning floral, food contributions and any other inquiries regarding support for the family during this difficult time.
